   Gretchen D. Popple 
  
 Gretchen D. Popple, 89, of 548 Lenox Avenue, died Sunday Aug. 15, 1999, at the Oneida 
Healthcare Center, following a lengthy illness. 
 She was born on Feb. 10, 1910, in Canastota, attending the Canastota schools. 
 She moved to Oneida in 1974. She had been a resident of Stonehedge Nursing Home in 
Chittengo for the past 15 months. 
 She married Claude A. Popple Sr. in 1931. Mr. Popple died on July 3, 1972. 
 Mrs. Popple had been a member of St. Agatha's Church, Canastota. 
 Surviving are one son, Claude A. Popple Jr. of Oneida; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry 
and Douglas Spicer of Oneida; one brother, Anthony Froelick; 12 grandchildren; and several 
nieces and nephews. 
 Mrs. Popple was predeceased by one daughter, Laura Parisi, who died in 1996.
