George Forbes

Obituary from Oneida Dispatch September 8, 1894

George Forbes, an old and respected resident of the town of Lenox, died at his
home opposite Glenwood Cemetery very suddenly about 4 P.M. Wednesday. He
was as well as usual during the day and busied himself about his usual
avocations. While at work in his hop yard a few rods distant, he felt ill and
started for the house. Upon reaching it, he was seized with a most severe
hemorrhage and passed away almost instantly. His son Charles, who died last
Saturday after a brief illness, was buried on Monday from the same house in
which both resided. An inquest was regarded as unnecessary.
Mr. Forbes was 84 years of age and the major portion of his life was spent
in this vicinity. He was a glass-cutter by trade, but for the past quarter of
a century had engaged in farming. He was first married to Clarissa Webster who
died nearly forty years ago and in December 1860, he married Miss Martha
Trowbridge who survives him. Seven children were born to him of whom the
following survive him; Mrs George Wentz and Mrs Henry Bishop of Oneida Castle
and Mrs. Henry Rowland of Syracuse. The funeral occurs tomorrow at 2 PM.
(Severe hemorrhage of lungs on death certificate)
