AGUADILLA, Puerto Rico Hipolito "Polo" Alma Alvarez, 81, died Sunday, Aug. 1,
1999, in a nursing home in Puerto Rico. 
He was born Oct. 8, 1917, in Puerto Rico, the son of Angel Alvarez and 
Georgia Alma. 
He was a U.S. veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1946. 
Mr. Alma Alvarez spent many years in the Canastota and Oneida areas in New 
York state. 
He worked for the late Dominick Bruno at the Three Rivers Inn and also Hotel 
Oneida. Mr. Alma Alvarez also worked for Giufre and Sons Packing in 
Canastota, retiring in 1979. 

Mr. Alma Alvarez was of the Catholic faith. 
Surviving are two daughters, lola J. Paro of Oneida and Elizabeth Mounier of 
New York City; five sons, Junior Alma of New York City, Alfredo Alma of 
Puerto Rico, Luiso Alma of Puerto Rico, Ainardo Alma of New York City and 
Heriberto Alma ofAuburn, N.Y.; one sister, Tula Alma of Puerto Rico; and 
numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
