Howard A. Jones, 93, of 218 Bates Ave., and formerly of 539 Senca St., Oneida, died Monday,
April 5, 1999, in Oneida Healthcare Center, following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 7, 1905, in Canastota, he married the former Jessie Mae Robinson.
Mr. Jones had been employed in the engineering department for Oneida Ltd. for over 40 years
retiring in 1970.
Mr. Jones had played the clarinet and saxophone in local big bands, concert bands, and march-
ing bands for many years. He was also an avid fisherman and an avid bowler.
Mr. Jones was a member of the Oneida Ltd. Retirement Club, and Community Associated Clubs
and was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida. He was a former member
of the Canastota Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Dolores and William Young of
Oneida and Beverly and Joseph Hickey of Rome; one sister, Beatrice Lament of Portville; five
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
