Harry L. Keene, 77, of 548 Seneca St., died Wednesday evening, Sept. 22,
1999, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 22, 1922, in Troy, the son of William T. and Sussie Meader
Keene. Mr. Keene was a resident of Oneida for the past 24 years, moving from
Waterville, and was educated in the Butternut Valley Schools.
He married Frances M. Lum on Oct. 26, 1946, in Sherburne.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Keene operated farms in Leonardsville,
Waterville and Oneida. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Frances; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and
Harriet Keene of New Berlin; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and
Wesley Welch of South Berlin, Dale Keene, Donna Keene and Cindy and Bruce
Betsinger, all of Oneida; one brother-in-law, Les Armstrong of New Berlin;
seven grandchildren, Marie and John Welch, Larry Keene, Mark Phillips,
Shane-Thomas Nodine and Kendra and Sabrina Betsinger; five great-grand-
children, Dawn and Ben Sheldon and Angelica, Sandy and Jimmy Welch; and a
special friend, Marilyn Keller Lauber. He was predeceased by a son, Harry
"Ben" Keene on Feb. 11, 1978, and a sister, Marion Keene.
