Julia "Jan" H. Purdy
Julia "Jan" H. Purdy, 72, of 21 Pine St., Hamilton, died Wednesday, Oct. 6,
1999, at University Hospital, Syracuse.
She was born June 25, 1927, in Indianapolis. Jan lived in Kokomo, Ind. for
21 years. She completed two years at Purdue University.
Mrs. Purdy worked for the U.S. Civil Service for a total of 24 years in
Japan and Korea, retiring in 1971.
She was a member of the Park United Methodist Church, a member of the Order
of the Eastern Star in Hamilton and Sherburne, a past District Deputy Grand
Matron of the Cortland-Madison District, Past President of the King's
Daughters and Sons Home in Dansville, a past President of Madison County
American Legion and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1556 in
Madison.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Ralph "Bill", two daughters and
sons-in-law, Anne and Joseph Sherman of Groton and Maree and Dr. Steve Kelly
of Portland, Ore., one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Shelly of Sandy,
Utah; two cousins, Dorothy and Willis Knipe and Lenore and Harry Myers, both
of Kokomo, Ind., five grandchildren; and many nieces and neohews.
