James J. Brooks

  James J. Brooks, 65, of 304 Seneca St., was pronounced dead on arrival at the Oneida City 
Hospital yesterday afternoon. Mr. Brooks had been in failing health for the past several months. 
  Born in Americus, Ga. Oct. 11, 1908, he was the son of Willis and Laura Brooks. He had been 
a resident of Oneida for the past 40 years, moving here from Sherburne. He married the former 
Bessie Whitman July 16, 1927 in Stockbridge. 
  Mr. Brooks had been employed by the Madison CountyHighway Department prior to his retirement. 
  He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Sherburne, a member and past govenor of Oneida 
Lodge No. 421, Loyal Order of the Moose and was a member of Oneida Lodge No. 767, B.P.O. Elks, 
Nest 1(8)06, Order of the Owls and the D.K.U.V. 
  Surviving besuides his wife are one son, James W. Brooks of Oneida; two daughters, Mrs. Mary 
Kincaid and Miss Helen Brooks, both of Oneida; two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Carnahan, Northeast, 
Pa. and Mrs. Gerald (Angeline) Moritz of Gowanda; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
