  CANASTOTA - Jesse Moss, 89, of 3461 Seneca Turnpike, died Tuesday, 
January 11, 2000, at his home, following a lengthy illness. 

  He was born Feb. 1, 1910, in New York City, the son of Charles and Rose 
Schnur Moss. 

  Jesse had spent his early years in the New York City area, graduating from 
the New York City school system and later graduating from Columbia University
Law School. 

  He had served as assistant district attorney in Manhattan, and following 
World War II had opened a private law firm in New York City, where he 
practiced for 32 years. 

  Mr. Moss had been invited to the White House on separate occasions by 
President Harry S. Truman and President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He had 
represented the Owners and Breeders of the Trotters Association for the 
entire East Coast, the Theater Ticket Brokers in New York City and a movie 
producer in Spain. He retired in 1977, after which he and his wife moved to 
Europe for 20 years, returning to the United States in 1998. 

  He was a World War 11 veteran, serving with the U.S. Army in England. 

  Jesse married Virginia "Jeannie" Balducci on Oct. 18, 1974 in New York city. 

  Surviving are his wife; one cousin, Ruth Hurwitz of New York City; sisters-
in-law, brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Jesse was 
predeceased by a brother, Mortimer Moss.
