Mary E. Koester
Mary E. Koester, 80, formerly of 1008 Main St., and most recently of the
Hazel Carpenter Home, Oneida, died Tyesday evening, Oct. 12, 1999, in the
Extended Care Facility of the Oneida Healthcare Center, where she had been a
resident for the past six and one-half months.
She was born on April 14, 1919, in Canadaigua, the daughter of William and
Eva Hoffmeister Carmody. Moving to Oneida at a young age, Mrs. Koester was a
graduate of St. Patrick's School and Oneida High School.
She married Charles R. Koester on Dec. 26, 1939, in St. Patrick's Church,
Oneida. Mr. Koester died on Feb. 20, 1998.
Prior to her retirement in 1989, with 22 years of service, Mrs. Koester
served as the hostess and clerk with Eddie's Restaurant in Sylvan Beach and
also assisted her late husband in the ownership and operation of the former
Sylvan Beach Meat Market. While residing in Sylvan Beach, she was a
communicant of St. Mary's of the Lake Church, and most recently was a
communicant of St. Patrick's Church.
Mrs. Koester was a life member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court
Our Lady 1250 and the American Association of Retired Persons, Oneida Chapter
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerome and Rosemary Koester
and Paul Koester, all of Sylvan Beach; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and
Gerald Randall of Whitesboro; five grandchildren, Jamie Condon, Kyle Koester,
Christopher Randall, Kate Randall and Adam Koester; and four great-grand-
children, Cortney Condon, Christie Condon, Baily Rose Koester and Kaylin
