Mary Stoner Brophy 
 
  Mary Stoner Brophy, 60, of 382 Stone St., died Friday, July 9,1999, at her 
residence following an illness of several months. 
  She was born July 24, 1938, in Canastota, the daughter of John and Grace 
Rhinehart Stoner. 
  She had been a resident of Stone Street since 1968. 
  On Aug 15, 1959, she married Jerome M. Brophy in St. Patrick's Church, 
Oneida. 
  Mrs. Brophy had been a homemaker for most of her life. She was a former 
member and secretary of the Oneida Elks Auxiliary and was also a member of 
the Herkimer County Detachment of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary. She was 
also a member of the Women of the Moose and had been a seamstress at home 
and had also done babysitting. 
  Surviving are her husband; six sons and five daughters-in-law, Robert and 
Connie Brophy of LaFayette, Ind., Joseph and Janet Brophy of Canastota, 
Richard and Sheri Brophy of Ashville, N.C., Neil and Susan Brophy of Newport 
News,Va., Timothy and Missy Brophy of Aurora,Colo., and John H. Brophy of 
Oneida; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sherri and John Froass of 
Oneida, K.C. and Walter Blau of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kelly Bernier 
of Oneida; one brother, Michael Stoner of Canastota; three sisters, Mrs. 
Howard (Jean) Learned of Oneida, Mrs. Bud (Sue) O'Herien of Vernon Center 
and Lois Manaseri of Florida; and 20 grandchildren. Mrs. Brophy was 
predeceased by a son, Patrick Brophy, in 1982. Her mother also died this 
past week.
