Monica V. Kazlauskas
Monica V. Kazlauskas, 88, 3387 Foster Corners Road, died Friday morning,
Oct. 1, 1999, in the emergency room of the Oneida Healthcare Center, after
becoming ill at home.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on July 9, 1911, she was the daughter of
Anthony and Francesca Buzinska Vaitkus. As a young child, Mrs. Kazlauskas,
traveled to Lithuania, where she was educated and returned to the United
States, following the death of her parents.
She married John Kazlauskas in Pittston, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 27, 1930.
The couple moved to Durhamville in 1935. Mr. Kazlauskas died in 1946.
Mrs. Kazlauskas owned and operated, with her family, the Brandy Brook Golf
club and previously operated the family farm. She was a Communicant of St.
Francis Church and was a member of the church's Altar-Rosary Society.
Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Barbara Kazlauskas
of Liberty, John and Mary Beth Kazlauskas of Durhamville, Joseph and Marcia
Kazlauskas of Verona, and Peter and John Kazlauskas of Munnsville; three
daughters and two sons-in-law, Jean and Benjamin Vaccaro of Durhamville,
Frances Durant of Verona, and Patricia and Gerard Caron of Canastota; 45
grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and cousins in
America and Lithuania. She was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and John
Vaitkus and one sister, Michelina Pazusis.
