CANASTOTA - Nellie G. Weimer, 100, of 146 W. Center St., died Wednesday,
Oct. 13, 1999, at Grouse Hospitals, Syracuse, following a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 3, 1899, in Theresa, the daughter of Samuel and Rose
Knute Gerber. Mrs. Weimer had spent her early years in Theresa, attending the
Theresa schools. She had lived in Canastota since 1914.
Mrs. Weimer had worked at Henney Motors in Canastota during World War II,
and later at Gleason's Dry Goods Store in Canastota. She had also worked as
a bookkeeper for Buyea's Store in Canastota and later for Buttino's Silver
Star Market in Canastota, retiring in 1972.
Mrs. Weimer had been a charter member of the Canastota Rebekah Lodge No.
247, a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Charles Miller Post
No. 140, Canastota.
She had been a member of the United Church of Canastota and had recently
received a silver tray from the congregation, commemorating her 100th
She married Carl G. Weimer on June 29, 1921, in Canastota. Mr. Weimer died
on Feb. 21, 1970.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Ava and Jesse Pilcher of
Fabius and Carol J. Weimer of Canastota; four grandchildren, Nancy
Starosciak, Thomas Pilcher, Lawrence Pilcher and Julie Michaud; nine great.
grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; as well as several nieces,
