ONEIDA DISPATCH

PARKHURST - On Monday Evening May 13 at the residence of O.(rrin) 
W.(inchester) Parkhurst near Lenox Basin, Orrin Parkhurst in the 78th year of
his age.  Mr. Parkhurst had been confined to his house during the past 6 or 8
months by a disease which caused much pain and consequent suffering during 
the latter part of the time. 
 
Mr. Parkhurst was born in town of Madison, Madison Co*., NY March 24, 1801 
moved with his parents to Smithfield in early boyhood from thence to 
Merrelsville in this town in year 1836. Mr. Parkhurst married and settled in 
Lenox in early manhood, his wife surviving him but a wreck of her former 
self. 8 children were born to them six sons and 2 daughters, of the eight, 5 
sons and two daughters are living. 
 
Mr. Parkhurst engaged in farming until seven years ago, he held various 
offices in the gift of the people during most of thirty years of active 
manhood.  He leaves but few who were contemporary with him in the 
activities of life.
