Peter Baltusnik

 SHERRILL - Peter Baltusnik, 92, of 412 E. Campbell Ave., died early Sunday 
evening, Jan. 23, 2000, at his residence following an illness of eight 
months. He was born Jan. 1, 1908, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Charles and 
Tophelia Bagdonas Baltusnik. 
 He moved to Munnsville in the late 1920s, where he met and later married 
the former Margaret Mary Sheehan in August of 1930 in St. Theresa Church. 
The couple moved to Sherrill in 1956. Mrs. Baltusnik died on Nov. 20, 1993. 
 Peter worked for Oneida Ltd. for 37 years, retiring in 1973. He then took 
employment with Vernon Downs as a guard on the Burton Gate until 1992 when he
left to care for his wife. 
 In his youth, Mr. Baltusnik was an amateur boxer. He boxed under the name 
"The Munnsville Plow Boy." He later acted as a judge for boxing matches 
sponsored by Oneida Ltd. C.A.C. in the 1940s. 
 He was also an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and was well 
known for his expertise in fox trapping. 
 Peter was a member of St. Helena's Church of Sherrill. 
 Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Robert Stewart of 
Oneida and Mary and Charles Kaufman of Plymouth, Mich.; one son and daughter-
in-law, William and Barbara Baltusnik of Hamilton; one sister, Sophia 
Crenshaw of Phoenix; one sister-in-law, Harriet Blackman of Peterboro; 12 
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 
Peter was pre-deceased by three brothers and one sister.
