  BRADENTON, Fla. - Roderick C. Dorrance, 88, of Bradenton, Fla., and formerly of Roxbury, N. Y. and 
Hobart, N. Y. died Saturday, June 9, 2001, in Bradenton, Fla. 
  He was born Oct. 16, 1912, in Peterboro, N. Y., the son of John and Emma Dorrance. 
  In 1931, he graduated from Oneida High School and was a graduate of Colgate University in 1935. He 
pursued further education at Columbia University. 
  He married Shirley Pratt, who survives. 
  He was a teacher and former principal of the Georgetown Central School until 1948. He became principal 
of Roxbury Central School in 1948 continuing in that position until 1965, when he became assistant 
superintendent of schools in this area. He retired from that position in 1976, after which he and his 
wife moved to Bradenton. 
  Rod had been president of the Hobart Rotary Club, a past master of the S&N Masonic Lodge and mayor of 
Hobart for four years. 
  Mr. Dorrance was a member of the New York State Teachers Association for 15 years, and a lifetime 
member of the New York State Council of Superintendents. 
  Surviving are one son, Daniel Dorrance; one daughter, Deanna Cole, and several grandchildren and 
great-grandchildren.
