Roland R. Jones

ABINGTON, Pa. - Roland R. Jones, 87, died Sunday evening, Jan. 16, 2000, at 
Abington Hospital, Abington.

He had lived near his daughter, Carolyn in Glenside, Pa. since 1995. 

He was born on Oct. 25, 1912, in Oneida, the son of LaVerne R. and Claudia 
Johnston Jones. 

He worked his way through Ohio State University, graduating in 1936 with a 
degree in business administration. The same year, he married Margaret Lazenby
of Utica, NY. Mrs. Jones died in 1993. 

For several years, Mr. Jones worked as an accountant for International 
Harvester Co. traveling in the counties of northern New York, then becoming a 
self employed farm machinery dealer in Sherburne, N.Y, where for a time he 
also owned a bowling alley. 

Mr. Jones lived in Sherburne from 1948 to 1994. Upon his retirement he built 
his own new house in Sherburne. His life interests were nature, fishing and 

Surviving are three children, Roland Edward Jones of Archbold, Ohio; Doreen 
Tiernan of Mechanicville, NY and Carolyn Spearman of Glenside, Pa.; two 
sisters, Alberta Page of Oneida, NY and Lois Dunn of Oneida; eight grand-
children; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, 
Gwendolyn Jones Fulmer of Decatur, Ga.
