Ruth Sterling Hawley Scott, 78, of Wilson St., died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999,
at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Oneida, N.Y. Mrs. Scott was a graduate of Oneida High
School, class of 1939. She also graduated from Albright School of Fine Arts
in 1942 and State University of New York in Buffalo, N.Y., with a bachelor of
science degree in Art Education in 1943.
Mrs. Scott did graduate work at the State University of New York at New
Paltz, N.Y., and Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.,
She was an art teacher for 40 years in New York at Arlington High School,
Poughkeepsie School and Wellsville.
Mrs. Scott was a member of the Arlington Teachers Association, Dutchess
County Art Association, National Women in the Arts and the New York State
She was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are cousins, Jean Sterling Snyder of Merritt Island, Fla.,
Marilyn Sterling Argentine of Carmichael, Calif. and an aunt, Helen Seybold
Moonen of Verona.
