Virginia A. Messinger

  MESSENGER'S BAY - Virginia M. Messinger, 78, of RD 2, Route 31, Canastota, 
died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, following a 
brief illness. 

  She was born on Aug. 27, 1921, in Canastota, the daughter of Charles and 
Pearl Snyder Roberts. 

  Virginia had lived in the Messenger's Bay area all of her life. She was a 
1942 Graduate of Canastota High School. 

  She hall been a member, Past Noble Grand and Warden of the Canastota 
Rebekah Lodge No. 247. Virginia had also been a member of the Self Help 
Hard of Hearing (SHHH) Group in Oneida. She had been attending the 
Oneida Lake Congregational Church and had been a member of the 
Whitelaw Presbyterian Church and the South Bay Chapel. 

  Virginia married Edway G. Messinger on Aug. 9, 1942, in Canastota. 
Edway died on Dec. 22, 1989. 

  Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Charles Messinger of 
Canastota, Cecil and Joyce Messinger of Perryville, and Carl and Dawn 
Messinger of Oneida; four daughters and a son-in-law, Jean Messinger of 
Texas, June and Manly Worthley Sr. of Chittenango, Audrey Lowe of 
Dayton, N.J. and Fern Messinger at home; one sister, Fern Olcott of 
Morrisville; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces 
and nephews. Virginia was predeceased by a daughter, Pearl Ina Messinger, 
who died in 1974. (See Death Notice.)
