  Mrs. Viola Franchell, 58, 15 Glenwood Ave., died this morning at Crouse Irving Hospital, Syracuse, 
where she had been a patient for the last eight weeks. She had been in ill health for the past eight 
months. 
 
  Born in Morrisville Feb. 3, 1916, she was the daughter of Bela and Nettie Gregg Short. She was a 
lifelong resident the Oneida area. She married Ernest Franchell in Oneida Castle Jan. 9, 1943. 
 
  Mrs. Franchell was secretary-treasurer of E.J. Browne, Inc. 
 
  She was a member of the Oneida Business and Professional Women's Club, Zonta Club of Oneida and the 
National Secretaries Association. 
 
  Surviving besides her husband are two brothers, Lloyd D. of Fort Johnson and Theodore F. Short of 
Canastota; two sisters, Mrs. James (Marie) Clarke and Mrs. Carl (Marjorie) Blum, both of Syracuse; and 
nieces and nephews.
