Virgil V. Bertolero 
  Virgil V. Bertolero, 86, of 423 Leonard St., died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998,
in the Oneida Healthcare Center where he had been a surgical patient. 
  He was born Jan. 26, 1912, in Canastota, the son of Eugene and Catherine 
Pravo Bertolero. 
  He was a lifelong resident of the Oneida and Canastota area. 
  He was married to the former Theresa Schembri on March 31, 1945, in St. 
Patrick's Church, Oneida. Mrs. Bertolero died Dec. 15, 1983. 
  Mr. Bertolero was an avid bowler and the first in Oneida to carry 200 plus 
average. In earlier years he was an outstanding baseball player and for many 
years was an avid golfer. 
  He was of the Catholic faith. 
  Surviving are one daughter, Kathryn Wagner of Norwich; one sister, Rose 
Marie Hannas of Canastota; two grandchildren, Lisa Marie Valatka and Rebecca 
Ann Wanger; and several nieces and nephews.
