William G. Kilts 
  William G. Kilts, 80, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at Community Memorial 
Hospital, Hamilton. 
  He was born Dec.4, 1917, in Rome, the son of Leo and Helen Griffith Kilts. 
  Mr. Kilts married Jeanne Mackesey Aug. 17, 1946. She died in 1997.
  Mr. Kilts served in the U.S. Army from 1940-1945, when he was discharged 
with the rank of 1st sergeant. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve for three 
  During World War II he served with the 64th Armored and 101st Airborne 
divisions, participating in the Battle of the Bulge, the Sigfree Line 
engagement and the Invasion of Normandy. 
  He was a member of American Legion Post 569 and the Veterans of Foreign 
Wars and served as commander of each. He was a member of the Oriskany Falls 
Fire Department. 
  He was employed by the state Department of Transportation, retiring in 
  Surviving are his children and their spouses, William and Barbara Kilts of 
Brookfield, James and Sharon Kilts of Utica, Kathy and Ronald Decker of 
Vernon, Rosemary "Tiny" and Tim March of Munnsville, John and Michelle Kilts 
of Durhamville, Robert Kilts,Tom and Kimberly Kilts, David and Bridget Kilts 
all of Oriskany Falls, Joanne Kilts and Bill Hajdass and Sherry and Ed Rice 
of Waterville and  Patricia Kilts and James Davis III of Madison; 35 grand-
children and many great grandchildren.
