William J. Carney

VERNON - William J. Carney, 59, of Arquint Road, died unexpectedly on 
Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 at his residence. 
He was born Sept. 27, 1940 in Oneida, the son of William A. and Elizabeth 
Collins Carney. 
Mr. Carney was a graduate of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School class of 
1958 and also attended Cornell University. 
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during the years 
of 1962 through 1965. On July 2, 1966 in St. Theresa's Church of Munnsville, 
he married the former Elizabeth March. 
Mr. Carney ran his family farm and was also a 33 year employee with Vernon 
Downs in the Pari-Mutual Department. 
He was a member of the Church of the Holy Family of Vernon. Mr. Carney was 
also a member and vice president of Service Employees International Union, 
AFL-CIO Local No. 234 and a member of the Sherrill American Legion Post No. 
Surviving are his wife; four sons and two daughters-in-law, William J. and 
Anne Carney II of Oxford, Mass., Christopher M. and Tracey Carney of Verona,
Steven P. Carney of Nantucket, Mass. and Ryan T. Carney at home; one 
daughter, Kathleen E. Carney and granddaughter, Megan Carney of Vernon; three
brothers, Les Carney of New York City, Paul Carney of Hammondsport, N.Y. and 
Thomas Carney of Phoenix, N.Y; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
