The Eckel Cemetery

The Eckel Cemetery

Vienna Township, Oneida County

Located on the south side of Route No. 49. along the North Shore of Oneida Lake, midway between North Bay and Jewell.

This cemetery is not in Madison County but in Oneida County. The reason that the DAR included it in their survey is evident.

If you read _The History of Tryon County_ George Washington did inspect the defences along Lake Ontario and probably made a stop on the north shore of Oneida Lake.

The proverbial George Washington slept here. (:=)
