FULLER

David Fuller Fri Feb 2 18:52:14 2001
I would like to find out more about the David FULLER and family who are listed in the 1800 census in Cazenovia. Any information could help.
My FULLER ancestors came to Ontario, Canada (then called Upper Canada) in 1805, from New York state. The oldest of them was David FULLER. Another one, probably David's son, was Jonathan FULLER. This David FULLER had a very large family (9 children). Apart from Jonathan, who was probably married in New York state, some other names of David's children were Ira, Uriah, Rhoda, James and David. James came to Upper Canada earlier, in 1800.

I searched through all of the David FULLERs mentioned in the 1800 census for New York, and compared the age ranges and genders to the information that I have from Ontario records. The only possible match was to the David FULLER of Cazenovia. I would like to get some confirming evidence, such as a marriage of Jonathan FULLER between 1800 and 1804, or a birth or baptismal record of Ira, Uriah, Rhoda or David, or anything else that might be of help.
Thanks for any suggestions.
--David Fuller Waterloo, Ontario

REES / REESE - FREDENDALL / FRYDENDALL

J.D. McDonald Thu Feb 15 17:19:32 2001
Searching for the ancestors and relatives of my 2ggrandfather, Osborne REES[E]. He married Catherine FREDENDALL / FRYDENDALL 1850 in Duanesberg, NY. He worked on the Erie Canal, and may have worked on Canals in the Troy/Rome/Florence/Cazenovia areas. His son, John Jay REESE was baptized June 1858 in a church in Cazenovia, Madison County, NY.

Recently I was given two old photos, of two young REESE children..they are not the children nor the grandchildren of Osborne REESE..so I am hoping they are his niece and nephew and that a REESE researcher with family in Upper New York, in the Buffalo to Herkimer areas will recognize them.

1. Written on the back of one of the photos is the name Jennie REESE, 7 years old, December 26, 1877 [do not know if this is her DOB or the date of the photo.] The photo was done by Johnson in Cazenovia, Madison County, NY.
This little girl definitely has a strong resemblance to my REESE relatives.

2. Written on the back of the 2nd photo is the names Jay W. REESE, 4 years old, July 4, 1877 [again there is no indication if this is his DOB or the date of the photo.] This photo was also done by Johnson in Cazenovia, Madison County, NY. And this little boy also bears a strong resemblance to my REESE relatives.

Please contact me at AKMac00@excite.com if there is a connection here. Thank you..

PRENTICE / PRENTIS / PRENTISS

Joe Dewald Sun Mar 11 11:45:217 2001
Nelson PRENTICE, a carpenter, appears in the 1850 Cazenovia, Madison Co., NY census with his wife, Electa, and 6 children ranging in ages from 6 to 23. Not shown in that family unit are Nelson PRENTICE, Ransom PRENTICE and James PRENTICE. They may also be sons of Nelson and Electa:
1. Nelson PRENTISS was b. in Jul 1835 in NY. He appears in the 1860 Franklin, Lenawee Co., MI census with his wife, Mary.
2. Ransom PRENTISS, was b. c. 1837, MI. He m. Caroline, b. c. 1848, OH and was living in Lanawee in 1880.
3. James PRENTISS, was b. c. 1839, NY

There are gaps in the ages of the children of Nelson and Electa which would be sufficient to allow the 3 men, above, to fit into that birth pattern.
One clue to the answer may be found in the 1840 Georgetown, Madison Co., NY census where Nelson was living at the time his son, Jerome, was born. Nelson's first name may be misspelled as "Nebon" in the census record. Although 1840 census records do not give the names of children, they do identify the number and ages of males and females in the family. Our own records show, at most, 2 sons in 1840, but we might not have all the sons since our information came from 1850 and 1860 census records which may be incomplete.

If the 1840 census shows 4 or 5 sons in 1840 and the age groupings conform to our information, that would be a good indication that Nelson could be the father of Ransom, Nelson and James, especially since they all moved to Michigan and family members tended to move together in those days.
If you have any information which can help identify any of the folks mentioned, or could check the 1840 census, please contact me at dewald@prenticenet.com..

Thanks to this query list, I now know that Sarah WHITMAN's Bible ended up in her husband John MARBLE's family. When they married or where they lived, I still want to find out. I found a newspaper clipping in the Bible, reporting 4 marriages in June 1863, in or near Madison: James H ALLEN to Sarah B LEWIS, E J RICHARDSON to Cesarine SLEEPER, Seward HOSFORD to Sarah HADLEY, Hugh DUFFY to Elizabeth DELANEY. Does anyone know these people, or how they were connected to Sarah and John MARBLE? There are further wedding details, a few. Another thing:John H FERGUSON signed the Bible, too,in 1841. Whose relative is he?
