Keith Tobey Thu Jul 10 21:39:47 1997
Our family history states that a John Tobey married into a prominent United Empire Loyalist family, the Van Dusens in 1810 in the Ontario, Canada where they were given free land for siding with the British during the Revolutionary War. All we know about him is that he was born in 1782 in Madison county N.Y.. The name Sullivan has also appeared. As far as we can tell he is the only Tobey that came north. I would like to verify his birth place and date and of course his lineage. Also why did he leave the U.S.A.? Please help! Regards.

Seek information and contact with researchers for JAMES MCSHOLAR (MCSCHOOLER). He was in Madison Co Census in 1830, page 425, Smithfield and Manlius, Onondaga in 1840 Census, page 149. I feel he is my ggg grandfather, but none of our family researchers have been able to make a connection. His son, born in NY 30 Jan, 1824 was Justus Grey McSchooler. Justus, who was my gg grandfather moved to central Ohio where he married, was a State Rep and a Captain in the Civil War. He died shortly after the war in Clay Co, Illinois. Family legend says Justus' father was a Ship Builder in NY. Would appreciate any information that helps clear up this mystery. A J W MCSCHOOLER was shown in the 1850 Paris, Kenosha Co, Wisconsin census (I have no idea if this is the same person). DAVID PHILLIPS dlphillip1@aol.com

I need information on any NILES family living in Madison Co, especially Lebanon. I have heard there is a cemetery near by owned by an OX NILES. If possible, can anyone send me a listing of any NILES members buried there? I am trying to find a connection between ANSEL NILES, JOHN NILES, RILEY NILES of Livingston county Michigan and their relatives in New York. Ansel was born about 1796 in NY and John was born about 1824 NY. I cannot find a death listing for Ansel, John, or Riley in Michigan and believe they may have returned to possibly Lebanon between 1860 and 1880. Riley had a son Zada Niles born in New York in 1868, but I dont know if the birth occured in Cattaraugus or Madison co. This family has been extremely hard to trace and I would appreciate any help.
