My 3rd g-grandfater, Charles Frederick ANDERSON was a Swedish cabin boy on a sailing ship. He jumped ship in the mid-1830s, and somehow made his way to Hamilton, NY. He later became a teacher and lawyer in Rochester, MN. Family stories refer to his education "back east", his obit refers to Hamilton, NY. My question: What kinds of schools for young men were available in Hamilton between 1835 and 1855? What kinds of records exist from these schools?

Researching BASSETT & HOXIE family ties to the area. William Bassett (b 1753 in RI) with his son, Lewis (b 1776 in RI),and families moved from Hopkinton, RI between 1800-1810. The family settled in Brookfield, Madison County NY. Lewis Bassett married Dorcas Hoxie (daughter Peleg Hoxie, gdau Gideon Hoxie) and had several children. I'm interested in Samuel Clark Bassett (b. 1810 in Brookfield). Samuel's second wife, Ziphorah Cowan (VT), had several children. I'm interested in Louis LaMonte Bassett (b. 1850 Belleview, Jefferson, NY). Samuel and Ziphorah moved to Bellview, Jefferson County, NY between 1840-1850? Louis LaMonte was born here in 1850. The family moved back to Brookfield, as the Crumb Cemetery list the graves of Louis, Dorcas, Samual and Ziphorah. I'm looking for birth, marriage and death info on any of these people.

By 1820 the family was increased with 3 more sons (one of which was my gr grandfather, John Lane EATON (1818-1903). Then by 1830 there were 6 sons total, which included the only other one I know about: Moses DeLos EATON, (1825-?).
Would like to know: parents of William, birthplace, wife’s maiden name and birthplace, marriage date and where, other 9 children of the family.
