Emma C. BROWNELL was born May 1862 in Madison, New York, her father was David BROWNELL(b. about 1828)/mother Magdeline LASHER. According to the 1860 census they were living in Lenox Twp, Madison County, NY. David had 3 siblings: Silus O.(b. abt. 1831), Julia(b. Feb. 14, 1832) and Daniel N.(b. March 7, 1835) Their parents were Silus N. BROWNELL & Minerva SWEET, Silus's death records gives his parents names as George BROWNELL/Emily. Silus N. and children were living in Fulton County, NY in 1850. I am seeking information on the ancestors of Silus N., or any siblings.

According to the 1980 Federal census for NY my gggrandfather James HYNES lived in Smithfieldtown, Madison County, NY. James was 37 years old, his wife Mary (WOODCOCK) was 24 years old, son's William 7, Herbert 5, Orville 3 and Charles 2/12. James' parents are Patrick and Etta HYNES. Mary's parents are John and Susan WOODCOCK of Oswego County NY. James had two brother's named Patrick and John HYNES. James and Mary moved to Gratiot County Michigan in 1885. I would like to know if James and Mary were married in Madison County. Also if anyone knows of this family from Madison County history. James was listed as being a laborer. Samuel FISH born 2 May 1808 in Madison County, New York State. When they were old enough, he & his brother , William , headed west and homesteaded near Lagrange, Indiana. There Samuel married Elizabeth LEEPER who was born 22 August 1814.
The tenth child of this marriage was Lovel L FISH born 30 July 1849 & my ggrandfather. Elizabeth FISH died in 1851. Samuel FISH remarried Julie HOLLY [1819] and they were the parents of Lyman [1854] & Norah {1857]. Samuel FISH died 24 May 1881. Could you help me find Samuel FISH's parents & siblings. Is there a volunteer genealogist there in a society that could help ?

My g-g-grandfather was named BABCOCK (don't know his first name) of Madison County, NY. He was captured in Civil War and held in Andersonville Prison, survived only to die choking on piece of meat upon arriving home to (I think) De Ruyter, NY. Any leads on info about BABCOCK, whose children were Marian (BABCOCK) BROWN AND FRED BROWN.

I found in the 1880 New York census that my greatgrandfather JAMES HYNES lived in Smithfield Township, Madison County, New York. He was 37 years old. His wife was MARY HYNES (WOODCOCK) and she was 24 years old. Their four boys were WILLIAM HYNES 7 years, HERBERT HYNES 5 years, ORVILLE HYNES 3 years, and CHARLES HYNES 2/12 years. JAMES HYNES was born in Canada and MARY was born in New York. MARY's parents were JOHN and SUSAN WOODCOCK of Oswego County. I believe John Woodcock went in the cival war from Madison County at age 37 with the Co. F, 157th NYSV. I would like to know if JAMES and MARY were married in Madison County. Richard ANDRUS (aka ANDRES or ANDREWS in censuses) b. January 1779 Columbia Co., d. 1875 Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY. Richard's wife - Delight ROBERTS b. c. 1779 in either CT or NY, was possibly the daughter of Amos ROBERTS of New Lebanon, Columbia Co., who d. 1835-1836. Richard and Delight moved to Madison Co. by 1810 and had 12 children, names unknown except for sons Alston (b. c. 1816, Madison Co., NY) and Spafford ANDRUS (b. c.1821, Madison Co., NY). Some children b. Columbia Co. Richard ANDRUS lived in Lebanon, Madison Co., until 1840-1850. By 1850 he was in Elmira and in 1860 in Horseheads, both in Chemung Co., NY. Richard ANDRUS had a relative, perhaps brother, Sylvester Gardner ANDRUS of Elmira, b. c. 1798 in (possibly) Albany Co., NY. Need info on Joseph JUSTICE/JUSTIN b 1794 in VT. and Margaret THUMM b 1794 in Montg. Co. NY. They married 1814 in town of Lenox, Mad. Co. According to a fam bible, chn. were Luther b 1815, Samuel b 1816, Daniel b 1820 and Mary Ann b 1831. The fam bible has birth, marriage and death records for Daniel and Mary Ann but only birth for Luther and Samuel. What happened to these boys ? Not listed in 1830 census.

Seeking info on Nancy WILBUR b. 27 Mar 1832 in Smyrna (Chenango County) and Atwell WINCHESTER b. 1832 place unknown. They were married 8 Apr 1853 at the Baptist Church in Lebanon by Bella Palmer. I have been told that the church burned and the records w ith it Are there any surving records?? Her parents may have been Benjamin WILBUR and Melinda WICKWIRE but I have nothing in writing to prove it. Atwell's mother's name was Sarah. He died during the Civil War at Petersburg,VA 19 Jun 1864. Nancy had 3 children by him::Alice b 1854, Eugene b 1 857, and Frances b 1861. Nancy remarried 25 Jun 1865 to E.Childs LOWELL b. 1831 in Wayne County. Nancy died 16 Aug 1924 in Oneida at the home of her daughter Frances ASHBY. Lowell died 22 Sept 1901 at the County Alms House, Eaton. I need parents and siblings for Nancy, Atwell, and E. Childs . Any help, even to prove I have bad information would be appreciated.
