ANOTHER VICTIM OF INTEMPERANCE

On the morning of the 7th inst. A man named CLAPP cut his throat with a razor in Churchville, in this county. He belonged to a respectable family in Massachusetts. When he settled in this quarter about 16 years ago, he possessed a fair moral character; but about 5 or 6 years since, he became addicted to the use of ardent spirits. In his fits of drunkenness, he frequently called on others to kill him; but he has at length become his own executioner.

CHATAUQUE COUNTY

We learn from the Chatauque Republican that, at the circuit court held in Mayville, last week, Judge GARDINER presiding, Chandler WATTLES was convicted of perjury, and sentenced to two years imprisonment, at hard labour, in the State Prison at Auburn KEYES was tried for counterfeiting, but the jury did not agree. He entered into recognizance to appear at the next term.

John COLLINS, supposed to be a son of Gen COLLINS of Oneida, was found dead in the streets of Albany one morning last week. — The verdict was, that his death was caused by apoplexy.

Two children belonging to Mr. DENISON at New York were lately suffocated inconsequence of the bed-clothes taking fire from a lamp which was placed alongside the bed in which they were asleep.

A man and his wife, by the name of STARR, were killed by lightning on the evening of the 23d ult, at their residence in Pine Grove Township, Schuylkill county, Penn. The Reading Chronicle thus narrates the melancholy occurrence: — "About 8 or 9 o'clock of that evening, there was a heavy gust of rain, accompanied with lightning, and from the best information we can collect, they were considerably frightened, and deferred getting their supper in consequence. The next morning, Mr. STARR was found extended on the floor behind the door, a lifeless corpse, and his wife also dead, lying across the cradle, which contained an infant. The infant was uninjured, and also three children that were in bed in the same room."

A young son of Mr. COOKE, shoemaker in New York, received such injury in fighting with another boy of 7 or 8 years, that he died immediately.

The Creditors of Johnson A. BRAYTON, a insolvent debtor, and imprisoned in the village of Rochester, in the county of Monroe, are notified to show cause, if any they have, before the Hon. Addison GARDINER; circuit judge of the eighth circuit of the state of New York, at his office in Rochester, in the said county, on the eighteenth day of May next, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, why an assignment of the said insolvent's estate should not be made, and his person be exempted from imprisonment according to the prayer of his petition. Dated this 20th day of February, 1830.

The Creditors of William H. STOORS, an insolvent debtor, of the town of Gates, in the county of Monroe, are notified to show cause if any they have, before the Hon. Addison GARDINER, Circuit Judge of the Eighth Circuit of the State of New York, at his office in Rochester, in the said county, on the fifteenth day of June next, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, why an assignment of the said insolvent's estate should not be made and his person be exempted from imprisonment according to the prayer of this petitioner. Dated this 29th day of March, 1830.

IN CHANCERY

In pursuance of a decretal order of the Court of Chancery made in the above cause on the 31st day of March 1830, I shall sell at public auction to the highest bidder on the tenth day of June next, at twelve o'clock at noon, at the Eagle Tavern in the village of Rochester, county of Monroe, the following described land, viz: "All that certain piece of land, situate in the village of Rochester aforesaid, viz: Lots number twenty three (23) twenty six (26) and twenty nine (29) in section N., reference had to JOHNSON and SEYMOUR's printed map of a part of Rochester (excepting one rod in width on the south side of lot number twenty pine which is reserved as a highway, together with all and singular privileges and appurtences thereunto belonging." Dated April 26, 1830.
