Though parent's affection lament thee,
And anguish, which loves to recall
Thy image, may oft represent thee
As the fairest and loveliest of all;
Although I must feel for such sorrow,
There is so much bliss in thy lot,
That pain from thee pleasure may borrow,
And joy could not wish thee forgot.

A man in Boston attempted to cut his throat, when his wife wrested the razor
from him, and he ran off bleeding to drown himself. She ran for assistance,
and on seeing his neighbors approach, he madly endeavored to kill himself by
tearing open the wounds in his throat. He was secured, and may recover. No
cause assigned for the horrid affair.
