DIED
In Penfield, on the 12th inst., of Apoplexy, at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Elvah E. PIERCE, Mrs. Dinah
NYE, widow of the late Caleb NYE, in the 74th year of her age.
Mrs. NYE emigrated to this county 62 years ago, in company with her father Jasial FAR and family, and settled in
the town of Pittsford, where she was married to her late husband, Major NYE, in 1795, with whom she lived 57 years.
They continued to live in Pittsford up to 1834, when they moved to Penfield, where she had since lived with her
companion up to Nov. 1st, 1848, when he died, since which time she has been gradually sinking away, though most
of the time she has been able to be about the house, and work on piece work, which she would do with a taste and
neatness hardly surpassed by those of much younger years. She was the mother of thirteen children, five of whom
are now living to mourn her sudden death. She died, as she had lived, a firm believer in the Christian Religion.
