ARRESTED ON A CHARGE OF SEDUCTION. - A young man named William Wiland was
yesterday morning arrested by officer SAM BROWN, on a warrant charging him with
seducing a young girl named AMANDA JOINER. The offence is alleged to have been
committed in October, 1856. The parties lived in Greece at the time but soon
after the commission of the offence, Wiland left and went to Wisconsin. Recently
he came back, thinking, doubtless, that the charge would not probably be
revived.
Defendant was taken before Police Justice BARDWELL, who
consented to hold the case open for a day or two, in order that the witnesses
might be got together.

SEVERE ACCIDENT - We hear that a young man, whose name we did not learn, was
terribly injured Tuesday night by falling through a hatchway in a grocery store
on the East Side. His arm was caught on the hook attached to the tackle fall,
and seriously mangled. An artery was severed, and but for the presence of mind
displayed by the sufferer, in holding it with the fingers of his other hand, he
would probably have bled to death before a surgeon could be called. The wounded
man is said to be a medical student or a physician.

TEA PARTY FOR ST. BRIDGET's CHURCH. - The Tea Party some time since announced,
to take place in Palmer's Hall, for the benefit of St. Bridget's Church, will be
given this evening. The object of the Party is, to raise funds for the
liquidation of claims against the Church. The ladies have made the proper
arrangements for a very pleasant party, and their friends and the friends of the
Church will be out in strong force, and with generous intent.
