ANOTHER BOY DROWNED - A boy of ten
years, named Wm. McENTEE, whose parents reside on Gregory street, has been
missing since Thursday morning, and as he was last seen about the logs
stored in the Feeder near the shingle mill, there is reason to suppose he is
drowned. Coroner TREAT made a search yesterday for the body, but as the logs
are so numerous, a thorough search was impossible.
The place
where this boy was last seen is a fatal one for children. We have recorded
many cases of drowning there, yet parents or children do not take warning.
Groups of children may be daily seen playing about the Feeder and crossing
to the Island upon the logs. It is by no means probable that the State will
fill up the Feeder with earth, or that the shingle business will be
discontinued on the bank of the Feeder, because children are permitted to go
there and drown themselves. It rests chiefly with parents to forbid their
children playing about the Feeder.

A CHILD SCALDED TO DEATH - A sad
accident occurred in North Chili last Saturday, which has not yet been
noticed in print. A little son of a Mr. KEARNS, whose age was about three
years, was scalded about the abdomen by the upsetting of a pan of hot water
which had just been turned from a pot of vegetables and meats. The accident
occurred at the house of Michael FULLAM, a relative of Mr. K., whose family
were temporarily stopping there. The little sufferer lingered in great agony
till Sunday morning, and then expired.
Mr. KEARNS
was absent in the adjoining town of Wheatland when the child was scalded,
and did not return till Sunday evening, then of course greatly surprised to
find his child dead. We understand that Coroner TREAT has been requested to
make inquiry into the facts connected with this case, and will probably do
so to-day.
