PROPERLY PUNISHED
A fellow named George HINSON, formerly a Justice of the Peace in Buffalo, insulted two ladies in the streets of
that city last Thursday evening, and when they fled from him pursued them and caught one, a Mrs. GIFFING, by the
arm. At this moment the husband of Mrs. GIFFING arrived on the spot and with a well-directed blow felled HINSON
to the ground. The latter arose and attempted to slow fight but was speedily thrashed severely. With characteristic
impudence he has sworn out warrants for assault and battery against Mr. and Mrs. GIFFING.

BRACKETT HOUSE - The Brackett House has lately undergone renovation and repainting internally, adding greatly to
its former excellent appearance.
The walls of the entrance hall have been painted in oil and the ceiling freacoed, the moldings gilded, which produce
a fine effect, and give it a very beautiful appearance. The side walls of the office, reading-room, bar-room and
reception room have all been painted in oil, each varying in shade, and by contrast the effect is most pleasing.
The ceilings have all been whitened and the wood-work repainted. The work was executed under the direction of Mr.
C. H. KELLOGG, and it gives strong evidence of that gentleman's good judgment and discriminating taste in work
of the kind.

THEFT - John BOTHMAN was arrested on Saturday, by officers McLEAN and HUGHES, for stealing a pair of pants from
Peter HESS, Front street. While the officers were overhauling ROTHMAN's boarding place, a large quantity of perfumery,
overcoat, etc. were found. Any parties who lost any such articles, would do well to call at the Police Office.
