CHARGED WITH FALSE PRETENSES

E. VROMAN, a boat captain, was arrested yesterday by policeman FOSTER on a warrant charging him with having purchased a horse from Joseph BURNS, of Penfield, under the representation that he was the owner of a canal boat; such representations have been ascertained to be false, VROMAN gave bail to answer the charge.

STEALING CLOTHING - A man named Wm. BARRETT was arrested yesterday afternoon by policeman WHITE on a charge of stealing clothing from a Mrs. STUART. He was examined yesterday on the charge and fined $5. - He returned the garments to the owner.

RUNAWAY - A team of horses attached to a farmer's wagon took fright yesterday afternoon on Elm street and ran away. The owner of the horses was thrown out, but not injured. The wagon was badly broken.
