--The plans for the Valley canal sewer are being prepared by City Surveyor
PEACOCK.
--W. DUNBAR and Samuel LEVI, of Buffalo, one charged with using the mails
for illegal purposes and the other with smuggling, stopped in the city
several hours yesterday in charge of Deputy C. S. Marshal WAITE, on their
way to Auburn, where their cases will receive the attention of the U. S.
Court.
--The golden wedding of Michael DENGLER and wife was celebrated at their
house, 266(?) Brown street, yesterday. The venerable couple, their children,
grandchildren and one great-grandchild, assembled in St. Peter's and Paul's
church, where grand high mass was celebrated by Rev. Dr. SINCLAIR, assisted
by Rev. WEISTEIN and PASCALAR.
--Last evening, at their armory on Front street was held the monthly dress
parade of the Rochester Cadets. A number of ladies were present, and
speeches were made by Hon. Charles B. BAKER and Charles M. WILLIAMS, lately
elected honorary members.
--On Sunday evening Thomas WHALEN died suddenly at the insane asylum from
hemorrhage of the lungs. His wife and several brothers reside in this city.
He had been an inmate of the asylum for some years.
