In this city, on Monday, December 31st, at his late residence, 21 Hickory street, after a long and painful illness, James M. GEE, aged 65 years. His disease was bronchitis.

DEATHS AND FUNERALS
 
--The death of Walter M. WINDEN occurred at 125 West Main street yesterday morning. The deceased leaves three brothers, William of Pittsford, Henry and George of this city, and three sisters - Mrs. BAIRD of 14 North avenue, and Mrs. MORGAN and Miss WINDEN, living on Sheridan park. The funeral occurs at 14 North avenue this afternoon.
 
--The funeral services of the late Mrs. Wilson D. OVIATT, was held at the house, 31 South street, yesterday, Rev. A_ SAXE officiating. The bearers were W. V. LANSING, James McMANUS, George D. FROST, John WARRENT, M. STARK and John P. CORD. The music was rendered by a quartette from the Third Presbyterian Church choir.
 
--Frederick SCHAUMAN died Saturday at his home, in Buchan park, at the age of forty-seven years. He leaves a wife and six children. The funeral occurs at Salem church at two o'clock to-morrow afternoon.
 
--Alonzo HOOPER died at the residence of his parents, corner of Curtis and Sherman streets, Saturday, at the age of nineteen years.
 
-- Silas WALRATH died Saturday at his home, 22 Maurer street. The funeral will take place to-morrow at two o'clock.
 
--The funeral of Miss Catharine SULLIVAN, who died in Brooklyn, was held at St. Mary's church, this morning at nine o'clock.
 
--Services over the remains of Captain A. MEECHS were held at 6 Champion street, yesterday afternoon. The employees of the Miller Brewing Company and the German Grenadiers attended in a body. The bearers were J. WHITE, C. J. HETZEL, T. THEIN, W. HAMBEL, A. MARCH and H. HETZEL.
 
--Frederick GROF died at his home, 86 1/2 East Main street, this morning of dropsy. He leaves a wife and four children. The funeral services will be held at the Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. Charles SIEBENPFEIFFER officiating.

DEATHS AND FUNERAL
 
The death of Mrs. Harriett S. MERRIAM, widow of the late J. W. MERRIAM, occurred at her residence, 26 John street yesterday. The funeral will be held at the house to-morrow afternoon at two o'clock.
 
Patrick J. MENOMY died at his home 120 North St. Paul street yesterday, at the age of forty-seven years. The funeral services will be held at the house to-morrow afternoon at two o'clock.
 
Cyrus WALRATH, a carpenter living on Marion street, died suddenly Sunday night and Coroner FARLEY, who was summoned, decided that death resulted from natural causes and that an inquest was not necessary. The funeral takes place at the house this afternoon at two o'clock.
 
John SLAVIN died at St. Mary's hospital yesterday aged thirty-eight years. Funeral services will be held at that institution to-morrow morning at ten o'clock.
 
Silas GARRIGAS died at the residence of his son-in-law, Dr. Maurice LEYDEN, 1 Reynolds street, yesterday morning. The deceased was born in New Jersey in 18_6 and had resided in this city for forty years. The funeral occurs at Dr. LEYDEN's residence to-morrow afternoon at two o'clock.

ESCAPE FROM THE REFUGE
 
William Gibson and Geo. Smith Leave by the Rear Gate this Morning
 
Early this morning two boys, William GIBSON and George SMITH, made their escape from the Western House of Refuge. In some manner unknown they became possessed of the keys of one of the officers, and, unlocking the back gate, made their way out about 6 o'clock. Their escape was discovered almost immediately and the officers of the institution tracked them to Lyell street, but there lost all trail. GIBSON was received August 4, 1883, and his parents reside at 121 Waverley street in Buffalo. He is fifteen years of age, weighing 122 pounds, is five feet four inches in height and has brown hair and eyes. SMITH was admitted in June, 1883, and his family lives in Corning. He is sixteen years of age, five feet, six inches tall, weighs 130 pounds and has blue eyes and brown hair. Superintendent, FULTON is using every means to find the runaways.

ACCIDENTALLY KILLED

The body of the young man killed on the Erie railroad near Clarissa street bridge, Thursday night has been identified by Albert MICHAELS of Brighton as that of his son William. The deceased was twenty-one years of age and left home two years ago. He was last employed by Hausen & Brother, ice dealers, and had boarded with Peter OLMAN at the R????. he was last seen in the saloon at the corner of Clarissa and Exchange streets, in an intoxicated condition. The coroners jury rendered a verdict this morning to the effect that the deceased was accidentally killed by the cars on the Erie, and that no blame could be attached to the company or employees.
