WILLIAM K. CHAPIN

He Commits Suicide at the Genesee Hotel, Buffalo
William Kidd CHAPIN of Rochester committed suicide at the Genesee Hotel in Buffalo some time Friday night last. On that evening he retired to his room and nothing unusual in his conduct was noticed. During the night the gentleman occupying the room adjoining Mr. CHAPIN's thought he heard the report of a revolver. He so informed the clerk, who went up and listened at the door. He heard Mr. CHAPIN breathing heavily as if in slumber and came to the conclusion that the noise heard by the gentleman proceeded from the steam radiator.
The chambermaid could not enter Mr. CHAPIN's room Saturday, and towards evening notified the office. The room was broken open about 5 p.m. and then the body of the unfortunate man was found lying across the bed with a wound in the left temple, inflicted by a bullet from a 44-caliber revolver, which was still clinched in the hand. In the pockets of the clothing, which had been removed and placed on a chair, was found the sum of $11.85.
Coroner KENNEDY of Buffalo, took charge of the case. On Saturday evening, Chas. T. CHAPIN of this city, a brother of the deceased, went to Buffalo and brought the remains to this city. The funeral and burial will be strictly private.
The deceased was 32 years of age and was for a number of years, connected with the Rochester Car Wheelworks. For the past year or so he was president of the newly organized Rochester Steel Mat Company. He leaves a wife and two young children. His mother and two brothers, Chas. T. and Edward CHAPIN, and his sister, Mrs. MARCUS of New York city, also survive him.
