DIED WHILE AT WORK
William H. CLINE, a workman employed on the construction of an ice house at
lock 63 in the village of Brighton, while standing upon the ground and
driving some nails into a board about 9 o'clock this morning, was seen by
his fellow workman to suddenly fall to the ground. On investigation it was
found that he was dead. Coroner GRAHAM was summoned, and after thoroughly
investigating the case issued a certificate of death from heart disease. The
deceased was 62 years of age and boarded in Brighton. He leaves a wife, one
son and two daughters.

THE CHARGES ARE FALSE
Coroner KLEINDIENST Says of the Complaint to the Supervisors.
In the Union's report of the doings of the supervisors Monday, reference was
made to an anonymous communication presented to the board charging the
coroners of the county with adjourning inquests in order to make more money
out of them, and refusing to have as jurors men who would not assign their pay
certificates to the coroners at 50 per cent, discount.
Although the board ruled the communication out of
order and took no action, Coroner KLEINDIENST is unwilling to rest under the
imputation. He indignantly denies the charges.
"I never asked a juror to sell me his
certificates," said the coroner, "nor did I ever refuse to
give a certificate to one. Nor is it true that I ever refused a man a place on
a jury because he would not sell me his certificate. The charge that I
have held an inquest of more than one session unless absolutely necessary is
also false. Often I am compelled to wait for witnesses, and it is
sometimes necessary to impanel a jury and have it view the remains before
testimony is taken. I have asked the chairman of the Committee on County
Claims to allow me to appear before it and answer the communication.
