--July 11th the Acme Club will have its annual field day at the Grove
House, Long Pond.
--The employees of Garson, Meyer & Co. will hold their annual picnic
at Glen Haven next Saturday.
--The Junior Epworth League will give its elocutionary entertainment in
the Hedding Church this evening.
--This evening the Catholic Mutual Benefit Associations will tender a
reception to Rt. Rev. B. J. McQUID, in honor of his silver jubilee, at
Cathedral Hall.
--The Epworth League of the North Avenue M. E. Church will hold a lawn
fete on the grounds of W. E. WARNER, No. 10 East Franklin square,
to-morrow evening. A musical and literary programme will be rendered, and
ice cream and cake will be served on the lawn.
--A Rose Festival will be given at Culver Hall to-morrow evening,
under the auspices of the Woman's Auxiliary of the Railroad Branch Y. M.
C. A. There will be a battalion drill and dress parade by the Depew
Guards; twenty young ladies under the command of Col. S. D. RICHARDSON.

ITEMS IN BRIEF
--Work has commenced on the new sewers in Tremont and Third streets.
--Three coaches carried the picnicers of the Church of the Reformation
to Silver Lake to-day.
--The Erie has places on sale a line of tickets via the Empress of India
Line to Toronto, the summer schedule of that boat having gone into
effect.
--The Erie will make reduced rates to the North American Saengerfest,
held at Cleveland, O., July 9th and 10th. Also, for the round trip on
Fourth of July travel. Tickets good July 1st to 5th inclusive.
--The Columbus Social Society lawn party and band concert last evening
was a decided success. Over $10 was realized, and will be given over to
the Infant Summer Hospital.
--Traffic was delayed on South St. Paul street about ten minutes this
noon. A fast driven truck struck the tongue of one of Mr. HEWITT's
loaded brick wagons and broke it. Mr. HEWITT's son was driving and
claims he was not to blame.

FUNERAL OF THE McMULLEN CHILDREN
After a long and trying search the body of Thomas McMULLEN, who was
drowned with his little brother last Tuesday while bathing near the
Rome, Watertown & Ogdensburg railroad bridge, has been found. It
was discovered yesterday afternoon opposite Ritter's furniture
factory, No. 565 North St. Paul street. The body of Joseph was found
last Tuesday evening. Coroner GRAHAM granted a certificate of death.
The double funeral of the lads was held from the home of the parents,
30 Vincent place, this morning at 8:30 o'clock and from the Cathedral
at 9 o'clock.

--William P. SHADDER died yesterday at Buffalo, aged 70 years.
--Frederick R. MILLER died yesterday at 5 Arthur place, aged 21 years.
--Rev. Theodore CLAUDINS died yesterday at Constableville, Lewis
county, aged 75 years.
--The funeral of Alfred J. RADBURN will be held to-morrow afternoon at
half-past 2 o'clock from the house, No. 109 Scio street.
--George, infant son of Charles D. and Fannie E. EVANS, died yesterday
at 58 Favor street, aged 6 years.
--Stella, daughter of ex-Alderman Henry SHELTER, died at 236 Bronson
avenue yesterday, aged 18 years. The funeral will be held from the
house at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon.
--Emma HENZ, daughter of Caroline and Christine HENZ, died at 38 Bly
street yesterday afternoon, aged 6 years and 9 months. The funeral
will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house.
--Wilhelm, son of Andrew and Amelia PFAUMAN, died last night at 165
Orange street, aged 3 years. The funeral will be held to-morrow
afternoon at 4 o'clock from the house, and will be private.
--Tottsent WOLF, aged 32 years, died at 51 Scrantom street, this
morning. He leaves a wife and three children. The funeral will be held
Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Michael's Church.
--Mary C., wife of John J. SERTH of 174 Bronson avenue, died yesterday
at St. Mary's Hospital, aged 32 years. A husband, three children, two
brothers and two sisters survive her. The funeral will take place
Friday morning at 8:45 o'clock from the house, No. 174 Bronson avenue,
and from SS. Peter and Paul's Church at 9:15 o'clock.
