Mrs. Mary A. Appleton died suddenly this morning at the family residence in a block at 250 State street. She was found dead in bed. Mrs. Appleton had been in apparently good health when she retired last evening. Deceased was 50 years of age. Coroner Kleindienst was notified of the case. The remains were removed to the public morgue by Attendant Draude. Coroners' Physician Leary will perform an autopsy this afternoon.

Mrs. Caroline Hartman died this morning at the family residence, No. 89 Campbell street, aged 45 years. She was a prominent member of Schiller Hive, No. 148, K.O.T.M. Deceased is survived by her husband, four sons, Oscar, Charles, Harry and Henry, and three daughters, Frieda, Martha and Gertrude Hartman, all of this city.

William A. Hartt, a son of John A. Hartt of No. 187 Lake avenue, died Monday in Los Angeles, Cal., aged 44 years. Deceased was born in Rochester and attended the public schools of this city. He was an expert mining engineer and resided in Arizona for fifteen years. Many friends of the deceased who reside in Rochester will hear of his death with sincere regret.

Albert D. Miner died Monday at Olean, N. Y., aged 58 years. The remains were brought to the family residence, No. 70 Alexander street.

An action brought by William Howe against Peter Finnegan to recover $60 has been instituted in Municipal Court. The plaintiff claims that through his wife as an agent he loaned the defendant first $50 and then $20. He alleges that of this sum by $10 has been repaid and demands the balance.

William Pifer and Edward Nacey, charged with assult in the third degree on Nathan H. Bagley, were arraigned in the Police Court to-day. They pleased not guilty and the case was put over till Friday. Bagley was driving through Jefferson avenue one day last week when he was snowballed by a number of boys. One of the snowballs went through the canvas cover of the wagon and then Bagley went into a store to ascertain the names of the boys. When he left the store he was attacked by the gang and severely beaten.
