Churchville--The death of Mrs. Richard Brearton occurred yesterday at the age of 65. Deceased was born in Ireland,
but had resided in the town of Riga for the past twenty-two years. Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters,
Mrs. Michael Ryan of Batavia and Christean of this village. Funeral Tuesday.
Lyons--Russell B. Richards died suddenly last night at the home of his son, William B. Richards, on Sisson street,
from heart disease. Deceased was in his 81st year. He was visiting with his son, apparently in the best of spirits
when suddenly he was prostrated and died almost before his son could reach his chair. The son and a brother, Nelson
S. Richards survive. Deceased was born in Lewis Co. and lived here over half a century.
Medin--Mahlon B. Reed of Ridgway died Saturday. Politically Mr. Reed was a Republican and was the leader of his
party in the vicinity in which he lived. His age was 43, and he leaves a wife and two sons. Funeral Wednesday afternoon.
Brockport--Mrs. Mary Cary Alten, widow of the late George H. Alten, died at her home on College street this morning.
The deceased was born in Cherry Valley, Otsego county, May 18, 1831, and is survived by four children, Miss Mary
H. Alten, Miss Elizabeth B. Alten, Miss Margaret Alten, all of Brockport, and Joseph Alten, at attorney of New
York.
Palmyra--James McMahon, aged about 70 years, died at his residence at foot of Main street, this morning. He is
survived by a wife, three sons and two daughters.
Phelps--James Holleran, aged 34, died this morning. He is survived by his wife and three small children, also one
brother, William of Geneva, and one sister, Mrs. John Doyle of Phelps. Deceased had been ill only a few days with
typhoid pneumonia. Funeral Wednesday morning at St. Francis Church.
Charles William Struble, for many years turnkey at the central police station, died early this morning at the family
residence, No. 237 Troup street. For the past year he had been in ill health, and recently suffered a stroke of
paralysis, which was the immediate cause of death. . . . Mr. Struble was the son of Sally Ann Glover and William
Struble, and was born in Tioga, N. Y., June 7, 1838. In 1854 the family moved to Galesbury, Mich. When 20 years
of age the deceased went to Sterling, N. Y. and engaged in agriculatural pursuits. He came to Rochester in 1860.
In April, 1860 he entered the United States army, joining the Third Infantry. While visiting Rochester on a furlough,
in 1862, he was married to Miss Catherine Townsend. Soon after entering the army the deceased received the rank
of corporal. In the battle of Gettsburgh he was shot four times, and from the wounds received was confined in the
military hospital at York, Pa., until December, 1863, when he received an honorable discharge from the service.
After his discharge from the army, accompanied by his wife, who had gone to the front to nurse him, Mr. Struble
went to Galesburg, Mich. There he obtained a position in a general store, which he occupied for five years. For
three years he served as town treasurer. In April, 1869, the deceased returned to Rochester. He was a conductor
on the double end cars of the Lake avenue route for some years. In 1889 he was appointed turnkey, to succeed Michael
Hyland, deceased, by the police board, which consisted of Mayor Cornelius Parsons, Commissioners Casey and Hoekstra.
He held that position until a few weeks ago. The deceased is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. W. H. Mooers,
Miss Lilliam E. Struble, Mrs. W. F. Niblack, Miss Gertrude Struble, Miss Almira Struble, and one son, Charles F.
Struble, all of this city.
James A. Wilson, a former resident of this city, died Thursday at his home in St. Louis, aged 51 years. Mrs. Martha
C. Wilson, mother of the late James A. Wilson of St. Louis, a former resident of Rochester, died Friday at St.
Louis, aged 72 years. Deceased is survived by one son, Thomas J. Wilson, and one daughter, Mrs. William J. Frazer,
both of this city.
Mina Rachel Mullins, daughter of Michael and Lottie Mullins, died Saturday night at the Homeopathic Hospital, aged
8 years.
The funeral of Mrs. Amanda C. Wilson was held from the family residence, No. 328 Plymouth avenue, at 3 o'clock
this afternoon.
Nellie M. Butler, wife of George D. Butler, died this morning at the family residence, No. 64 Park avenue. Deceased
is survived by her husband and her parents.
The funeral of Joseph Otto will be held from the family residence, No. 91 Chatham street, at 8:30 o'clock to-morrow
morning and from St. Joseph's Church at 9 o'clock.
Mary Ungelenk Weidner, wife of Carl Weidner, died yesterday at the family residence, No. 25 Carl park, aged 29
years. Deceased is survived by her husband, three children, her mother and two sisters.
The remains of Michael McMahon, a former resident of Rochester, who died in Bradford, Pa., on Saturday, were interred
in the Holy Sepulchre cemetery this morning.
