FOUND DEAD IN HIS ROOM

Young Watchmaker Thought to Have Been Victim of Accident
Edward COSGROVE, 19 years old, was found dead on the floor of his room at No. 94 Griffith street yesterday, having succumbed to gas asphyxiation. After an investigation that continued most of the day Coroner KLIENDIENST gave a certificate of accidental death.
COSGROVE was learning the watch-making trade at the store of Charles H. DYGERT, No. 200 Monroe avenue and roomed with Mrs. M. J. POTTER, of No. 94 Griffith street. Yesterday morning Mrs. POTTER passed COSGROVE'S room and smelled gas. She telephoned to Mr. DYGERT, who said COSGROVE had not appeared at the store for work. Fearing the worst, Mrs. POTTER hurried to the house to a neighbor and summoned help. A man went to the room and forced the door, finding COSGROVE dead.
COSGROVE had no troubles, the coroner was told by the youth's sister and DYGERT. He was of a happy disposition and on Saturday night was cheerful. Mr. DYGERT said yesterday afternoon that COSGROVE was a fine young man and a faithful employee. He scouted the suggestion that a love affair played any part in his death. He believed that the cock was turned on accidentally.

YOUNG WIFE TRIES SUICIDE

Taken to Hospital After Swallowing Chloroform
In a semi-conscious condition Mrs. Lula LORNSCHALL, 19 years old, was removed to the Hahnemann Hospital yesterday afternoon. At 8 o'clock she was said to be out of danger. She took two ounces of chloroform.
Mrs. LORNSCHALL and her husband, Albert, have been rooming at No. 143 Broadway. The wife is a native of South Lima. When an officer from the University avenue station called at the hospital to interview her she declined to say why she had made the attempt on her life, but admitted having drunk the chloroform. She said she had quarreled with her husband, but further than that would not talk. She will be arrested as soon as she is able to leave the hospital.
No one was at the Broadway house when an officer called there last night. Some one telephoned the precinct station, shortly after the ambulance was called to the effect that the woman had been seized with a fit.
