FUNERAL OF MRS. EASTWOOD

Representative Gathering and Many Floral Tokens

Men and women yesterday afternoon paid their last tribute of respect to one of the city's best known and most loved women, Mrs. William EASTWOOD, whose funeral was held from her late home, No. 258 Culver road. Women representing the Educational and Industrial Union, of which she was a director; Irondequoit Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, of which she was vice-regent; the Colonial Dames, and the Homeopathic Hospital Training School for Nurses, of which she was president, were in the audience.
From many of the organizations with which Mrs. EASTWOOD has been identified, as well as from personal friends, there were floral tributes in great number. The number of those tokens was unusual. The (line unreadable) with the blue and white ribbons always attached to flowers sent on the occasion of the death of a daughter, these being the national colors.
Rev. William C. GANNETT, pastor emeritus of the Unitarian Church, conducted the service. He offered a prayer and recited the twenty-third psalm. A quartette. Miss Lena EVERETT, Mrs. Charles G. HOOKER, Marvin BURR and Guernsey CURTISS, sang; twice, the last number being Tennyson's "Crossing the Bar."
As the casket was borne from the house it was preceded by these honorary bearers: J. Craig POWERS, George EASTMAN, G. T. CURTIS, F. S. MACOMBER, George MOTLEY and William S. MORSE.

SEIZED WITH CRAMP, DROWNED IN CANAL

Meng Place Man Sinks Before Help Reaches Him

George WAHL, 24 years old, was drowned in the canal near lock 63, in the Twenty-first ward, last night. His body was recovered after two hours had been consumed in dragging. Coroner KLEINDIENST will investigate the case to-day.
WAHL, who lived with his wife and child at No. 130 Meng place, last evening accompanied several friends to the canal, where all went in bathing. WAHL, swam a considerable distance away from his friends, it is said, and soon afterward had a cramp in one of his legs. He called for help, but before his companions could reach him he sank. All efforts to locate his body failed, and reluctantly his friends gave up diving.
Coroner KLEINDIENST was notified, and Morgue Attendant STONE recovered the body.
