DIES OF GAS POISONING
Man of 60 Succumbs in Hospital Case Under Investigation.
Bernard STEINER, 60 years old, died yesterday afternoon in St. Mary's Hospital
of gas poisoning. He was removed to the hospital Wednesday morning in an
unconscious condition. Gas was flowing from a ______ the jet was
open. It is thought that wind blew out the flame. Coroner
KLEINDIENST will investigate the case before giving a certificate.
STEINER lived at No. 214 Brown street.
AUTO KNOCKS CHILD OVER
Girl of 8 Years Run Down by Car of Gibbs Street Doctor.
While crossing the street at No. 589 Main street east yesterday noon Mariota
EICHION, 8 years old, of No. 333 University avenue was struck by an automobile
driven by Dr. C. A. VAN DER BEEK of No. 24 Gibbs street. The child was
knocked down and made unconscious. Dr. VAN DER BEEK took the child to
his office for first aid and then removed her to the Park Avenue Hospital,
where she regained consciousness. It is not believed that any bones were
broken.
