here a new branch of the business, the making of wool hats; was a soldier in
the famous swamp fight when the power of the Narragansets was broken, Dec.
18, 1675; April 7, 1676, he was a sergt. under Capt. Turner, and stationed
with 44 men under him at Hatfield; he held the same office in the Falls
fight; after the war he settled in Hatfield, and set up a hatter's shop.
