My ancestor, William CHANDLER, was supposedly born in Genesee County, NY in 1817; however, he may have a Niagara County, NY connection through Felix and Comfort HOLDRIDGE, who were taking care of Chandler's daughter, Caroline, in 1850 in Lenawee County, MI. I have a dictionary inscribed "Feliz Holdridge, October 14, 1827, Royalton, Neagara, New York". I would be interested in hearing from people researching these surnames in Niagara County. Samuel COOLEY received land patents for Macomb County, MI. His first in 1833 stated he was from Niagara County, NY. Several other COOLEYs were listed in the land patents as well...Benjamin, Charles, Jonathan, Noah, Rodney and William. I believe Benjamin, Jonathan and William are Samuel's sons (they all received land patents 9 Oct 1835, but their's stated they were from Macomb County). I know for certain he had a son Levi. Samuel married Kaziah HOWARD, possibly of Genessee or Alleghany Counties, NY (as there were HOWARDs in Macomb Co land patents from those counties) - Feb. 1999.
