...."The following is the census of electors resident in the old town of Camillus taken in 1807. The town of Camillus at that time included the present towns of Elbridge, Camillus and Van Buren, and the list is a guide to the earliest pioneers of those three towns. The electoral franchise at the time this census was taken was limited to landholders and tenants so that probably a large number of families then resident are not in the list:--

NOTE:  The following list was produced in Dwight H. Bruce (ed.), Onondaga's Centennial.  Boston Publishing Co., 1896, Vol. I, pp. 663-665.  In a footnote, Bruce noted that "the spelling of these names is copied from the records, though in many instances it is known to be erroneous, or different from the present style."  Whether Bruce provided the names to the press, or whether the paper used the original records is not clear.  Bruce's version varies slightly from the paper's version, as follows:  Phineas Barns, Chauncey Bartholomew, Winslow Churchill, Isaac Lindsay, Elijah Lindsay, Chester Marshall, Harlow Marshall, Josiah Marshall, Simon Marshall, John Munro (instead of Manro), Squire Munro (instead of Manro, as it also spelled in the Town of Camillus Census of 1810), Squire Patchin, Samuel Seeley, John Stevens and John Wygant.  The first names of Christopher Bracket, Nicholas Lambertson, and Nathaniel Richmond were fully spelled out, and the question marks for John Kester and Jonathan Rowlee were absent in Bruce's book.
