Cornelius Tyler LONGSTREET, c. 1875 (Sect 3)

The grandson of early Onondaga Valley settler and salt producer, Comfort Tyler, Longstreet was a successful clothing merchant and financier noted for commissioning James Renwick, (architect of the Smithsonian Institution) to design his family home.  Now demolished, "Yates Castle" as the home was known, stood on Irving Avenue overlooking the city below.
