Declaration filed 29 December 1865: that at the Battle of
the Wilderness in the state of Virginia on 7 May 1864 he rec'd from the
enemy a gun shot wound taking off 3rd finger of right hand. Was treated
at Campbell
W. S. General Hospital, Washington, D.C. 12 May 1864, was furloughed
May 23, 1864, readmitted June 22, 1864 and returned to duty July 12, 1864
and was transfered August 1, 1864 to Co. K 22nd Regt Vet. Res. Corps.

15 December 1894: disease of heart which incapacitates him for
manual labor that he has to be careful and avoid all hard work and excitement...
9 November 1927: Requires the regular personal aid and attendance
of another person and has required such aid and attendance since Dec 14,
1925. Varicose ulcer of leg, rheumatism of muscles of back and shoulders,
stomach troubles and has to have aid in dressing.
