Byron Winn

Byron Winn,
age 68, died at his home here Thursday morning of tuberculosis. Besides
his widow he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Grace Frye of Williamson, Mrs.
Anna Taber of Dakin’s Bay and Mrs. Helen Woolridge of this place; a brother,
Morris Winn of Bernhard’s Bay; a sister, Mrs. Herbert Halleck of Oneida,
also 5 grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday
at 1:30 o’clock at the church here. Rev Davy of Cleveland officiating.
Burial was in the cemetery here.

Cleveland. Jan 4 –
Funeral services for Mrs.
Georgianna Winn, who died at her home near Constantia Center Friday Night,
were held Tuesday afternoon in the Constantia Center Baptist Church and
burial was made in the cemetery at that place.
Mrs. Winn, who was the widow
of Byron Winn, is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Verne Frye of Wayne
County and Mrs. Frank Tabor and Mrs. Warren Woolridge of the Town of Constantia,
a brother Truman Shears, Constantia and one sister, Joanna Stratton, Bernhard’s
Bay.

The funeral of Grace Frye, wife
of Verne Frye of Williamstown was held at the church here, H. R. Bowman
officiating.
Mrs. Frye was a daughter of the
late Byron and Georgianna Winn and a former resident here. She had
been an inmate of the Willard State Hospital several years. About
two weeks ago, she underwent an operation, from which she did not rally.
Beside her husband she leaves two
sisters, Mrs. Anna Taber and Mrs. Helen Woolridge of this place.
Interment was made in the family plot in the cemetery here.

The funeral of Mrs. Helen
Woolridge, who died Wednesday at her home in this village, will be conducted
this afternoon. Mrs Woolridge is survived by her husband,
Warren Woolridge; a son, Stanley; two daughters, Mrs. Wilbur
Dunn and Miss Leta Woolridge; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Taber of Bernhard’s
Bay. Services will be held in the Baptist Church at Constantia Center
at 2 o’clock Saturday. Burial will be in Constantia Center.

The funeral of John D.
Stratton was held in the church here Saturday afternoon. He was
born here on May 5, 1863, son of Darius and Eliza Youmans Stratton, and
lived here until about 30 years ago, when he removed to Oneida.
For the past four years East Syracuse has been his home and he died there
Feb. 17, six weeks after the death of his brother, Moses K. Stratton in
Durhamville. He is survived by his wife, to whom he married
50 years ago in January and one son, Moses C. Stratton, an adopted
daughter, Miss Theo Stratton of East Syracuse, one sister, Mrs. Ida Montross
of Oneida. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Nicholas J. Bragan,
pastor of the East Syracuse Methodist Episcopal church, assisted by Ralph
C. Hutchinson, local pastor. The burial was in charge of Cleveland
Lodge 622, F. & A. M. of which Mr. Stratton had been a member.
Interment was in Lakeside Rural Cemetery.

Funeral services for
Mrs. Joanna Stratton, 76, widow of John Stratton were held at 3 p. m. today
from the home of her only son, Mose C. Stratton, conducted by Rev. A. Day
Rich, pastor of the Methodist church here and in Cleveland, assisted by
Rev. S. A. Marks, pastor of the Constantia Center Baptist Church.
Mrs Stratton suffered a heart attack early Wednesday morning and died before
Dr. M. Brown could reach her.
She was born Dec. 13, 1862,
in Cresent, Saratoga County. Nearly half her life was spent here.
She has been an invalid for nine years. Mr. Stratton died in 1932.
Besides her son she is survived
by a brother, Truman Shears, who lived here: a grandson, George J. Stratton,
Buchanon, and a niece, Mrs. Frank Taber, Constantia Center. The bearers
were Frank Taber, Charles Best, John and George Davis. Interment was in
Lakeside Rural Cemetery.
Among those attending from
out of town were Mrs. Mose C. Stratton, Newburgh; Mr. and Mrs. G.
J. Stratton, Buchanon: Mrs. Moses Stratton and Mr. and Mrs. J. Albert
Stratton, Durhamville; Mrs Ellen Beatty, Mr. and Mrs. James
Farrington, Mrs. L. W. Farrington, Otto Farrington, and Mrs. Derringer,
Oneida; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Ben) Egan, Sherrill; Mrs. Harry Tallents
and daughters, Fulton; Mrs. Herbert Cavanaugh, daughter and children,
Syracuse; Mrs. Agnus Teal, Liberty; Mrs. Bertha Goodrich, Dakins Bay;
Alfred Blowers, East Syracuse, and Edward Vanderworken, Constantia, called
Friday morning.

Mrs. Joanna Stratton
Sylvan Beach—
Mrs. Joanna Stratton, who suffered
a setback of a winter illness after a fall on her porch last Friday, died
June 21, 1939, at her home near Bernhard’s Bay, Oneida Lake.
She was born at Cresent, Saratoga
County, December 13, 1862, a twin daughter of George and Martha Vanderworken
Shears. Her sister was Georgianna Shears. The family moved
to Dolbyville in 1882.
Joanna Shears was married to John
Stratton and they lived at Bernhards Bay until they moved to Oneida 35
years ago. The couple lived at Apex, Kingston and East Syracuse at
times. Mr. Stratton died at East Syracuse and his wife and son moved
to Dakins Bay and later to Bernhards Bay.
Surviving are one son, Moses C.
Stratton; one brother, Truman Shears; one neice, Mrs. Frank Taber, Constantia
Center.
A private funeral will be held at
the Bernhards Bay home this afternoon with a burial at Lakeside Cemetery.

Truman Shears, 74, a Bernhard’s
Bay farmer admitted to Oneida City Hospital Sept. 18, died there Oct. 4,
1940. He had been a surgical patient.
Mr. Shears had been born in
Saratoga Springs, a son of George and Martha Shears. The only survivor
is a nephew, M. C. Stratton, Bernhard’s Bay.
